In the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, Indian archer Deepika Kumari’s journey came to an end in the quarterfinals of the women’s individual archery event. Facing a formidable opponent, South Korean archer Nam Suhyeon, Deepika was defeated with a score of 4-6 on Saturday.
The match was a nail-biter from the start, with both archers showcasing their exceptional skills. The competition remained intense through four sets, with both athletes demonstrating precision and resilience.
Deepika Kumari started strong in the first set, scoring 28-26 and securing 2 points. In the second set, she scored 10, 6, and 9, but Nam Suhyeon matched her performance, winning the set 28-25 to even the score.
The third set saw Deepika reclaim the lead with an impressive two 10s, resulting in a score of 29-28. However, the fourth set turned the tide as Deepika scored 10, 7, and 10, losing the set 27-29.
Despite her best efforts, Deepika’s three consecutive 9s in the fifth set were not enough to secure victory. Nam Suhyeon clinched the set and the match with scores of 10, 9, and 10, advancing to the semifinals.
